Salary: $22.46 to $27.13 per hour
What you'll do
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Retail & Campus Services, the Bookstore Clerk supports the day-to-day retail operations of the campus bookstore. This role is responsible for processing sales transactions, receiving and stocking merchandise, and providing front-line customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
Key responsibilities:
- Process sales transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, debit, and credit transactions accurately.
- Assist customers with purchases, product inquiries, and general information.
- Maintain a professional and courteous customer service environment.
- Receive incoming shipments and verify against packing slips.
- Stock shelves and displays in accordance with established merchandising standards. Ensure inventory is organized, labeled, and accessible.
- Report discrepancies or damaged goods to manager.
- Open and/or close the bookstore following established procedures.
- Balance cash float at shift start/end (no reconciliation accountability).
- Prepare customer orders for pickup or shipment as directed.
- Follow all health, safety, and security procedures.
- Prepare and fulfill online and in-store customer orders for pickup or shipment, including picking items, packing orders, and updating order status within the system as required.
- Process returns, exchanges, and refunds in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Communicate stock levels, inventory issues, and customer requests to the Bookstore Coordinator or Manager as required.
What you'll need
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is considered an asset, along with experience operating a point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment is beneficial, particularly where attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions is required.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, word-processing programs and database management

- Enforce bookstore policies and procedures
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic organizational and time management skills
