Purpose of the Role
Ensure the availability, performance, security, and resilience of the organization's data platforms while serving as a technical expert in their management, optimization, and ongoing evolution.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
- Ensure the administration, performance, and availability of SQL Server and Oracle database environments.
- Maintain backup, security, high-availability, and disaster recovery mechanisms to protect data and support business continuity.
- Automate and optimize operations to improve the efficiency, reliability, and resilience of data platforms.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, development, security, and data teams on project implementation and the evolution of technology solutions.
- Serve as a technical expert in database management, performance, and architecture.
What you'll need
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in database administration, including strong expertise in SQL Server and hands-on experience with Oracle.
Technical Skills
- SQL Server (expert level) and Oracle (operational level).
- Experience with high availability (AlwaysOn, clustering), backup, advanced recovery, and disaster recovery testing.
- Solid understanding of performance tuning, indexing, and database architecture.
- Knowledge of Azure, hybrid cloud, and Windows Server environments.
- Automation (PowerShell, SQL scripting, CI/CD pipelines).
- Familiarity with DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Monitoring and observability of data environments.
- Management of multi-platform and multi-system environments.
- Data security (encryption, access management, auditing).
- Excellent skills in solving complex problems and troubleshooting.
- Clear communication and the ability to explain technical concepts in layman's terms to a variety of stakeholders.
- Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams (development, infrastructure, security, BI).
- Priority management and the ability to handle pressure and emergency situations in a 24/7 production environment.
