DescriptionHarbour Development specializes in all aspects of marine construction and dredging throughout Atlantic Canada. We operate a fleet of dredges, barges, shallow draft workboats, tugboats, cranes, and dump scows. We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Dredge Superintendent.
Responsibilities
- Provide safety leadership and perform safely on all projects and in compliance with environmental requirements. Advance the company’s safety initiatives, conduct safety audits, liaise with JOHS committee, and coordinate training.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of vessel systems and determine procedures for maintenance, installation, modification, and repair of electrical and instrumentation assets
- Ensure all work aligns with company standards, technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and project schedules
- Support operational continuity by identifying and resolving issues that may impact productivity or safety
- Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset regarding productivity, quality, and safety
- Maintain a record of spare parts used and report to the Operations Team Lead
- Fully understand, comply, and lead by example Harbour Development’s Safety Management System and related procedures
- Contribute to Harbour Development’s safety culture by:
- Understand and comply with various safety processes within the Safety Management System
- Possess the skills to perform job related tasks and apply safe practices while performing physical tasks
- Have a thorough understanding of precautions and procedures related to the Safety Management System
- Have thorough understanding of pollution regulations and the company’s objectives regarding environmental protection
Qualifications
- Trade Certificate or College Diploma
- 4 - 7 years’ experience in Marine Operations
- Strong safety leadership skills and safety record
- Ability to take the initiative, work independently, make decisions, and develop recommendations.

- Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate (TDG)
- Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
