About the job:
Kent is looking for an Electrical Commissioning Technician to support our team at the Saint John LNG (SJLNG) Project.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
• Reports to the Electrical Discipline Lead for planning and execution management support.
• Execute electrical commissioning tasks as directed.
• Communicates with the Electrical Discipline Lead for technical support.
• Create RFI content as the first line of technical field questions.
• Accept and/or sign onto permits, JSA, FLRA’s, and toolbox talks in the capacity of front-line user.
• Perform field verification of punch list completion and update the system’s completion database as required.
• Complete and report daily progress on commissioning B check sheets technically and legibly.
• Support electrical field commissioning tasks, including equipment energization, point to point checks, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrate working knowledge in the use of test equipment such as multimeters, megohm meters, and insulation testers.
• Review and redline electrical documentation such as wiring diagrams, one-lines, schematics, and data sheets.
• Support interlock testing, logic testing, and dynamic equipment runs from the electrical perspective.
• Coordinate with commissioning vendors for electrical systems as required.
• Ensure compliance with isolation requirements, zero energy states, and safe work practices throughout the commissioning process.
• Support DCS and PLC loop checks and equipment integration from the electrical side.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:
• Technician certified, with preferably a college technical certificate and 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience in frontline commissioning, start-up, and energization of electrical systems.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical test equipment and plant power distribution systems.
• Hands-on experience with MCCs, switchgear, UPS, transformers, and E-house commissioning.
• Familiarity with PLC/DCS systems and commissioning at the loop-check level.
• Demonstrated understanding of electrical safety, isolations, and compliance with project permitting processes (CSU, Area Prime, JSA, FLRA, etc.).
Communication:
• Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication.

• Strong technical skills and discipline focus in electrical commissioning.
