Field Engineer (New Graduate) Overview: CAM Industrial Solutions, a leader in industrial services and one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in Canada and the United States, is seeking a Field Engineer (New Graduate) to support maintenance and turnaround work at the Irving Oil Refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick. CAM Industrial Solutions is a contractor supporting critical work within the refinery, providing maintenance and turnaround services. This is an excellent opportunity for recent engineering or construction management graduates who want to gain hands-on experience in a large-scale industrial environment while working alongside experienced project managers, engineers, and skilled trades. The successful candidate will receive hands-on mentorship and exposure to refinery operations, project coordination, and industrial construction practices. Visit us at https://www.camindustrialsolutions.com/ Position Summary: Reporting to the Project Manager, the Field Engineer will support field operations by helping coordinate work between engineering, construction, maintenance teams, and project stakeholders. This role provides strong exposure to refinery operations, project execution, and industrial construction while developing practical field engineering experience. This position is based in an operating refinery environment, where safety, planning, and coordination are critical to ensure maintenance and turnaround work is executed without impacting ongoing operations. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced team members to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project and refinery requirements. Key Responsibilities: Assist with maintaining field documentation such as RFIs, permits, redline drawings, work packages, and QA/QC records. Support coordination of materials, tools, and equipment to ensure crews have what they need to complete work safely and efficiently. Work with field supervisors, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives to support daily project activities. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, inspection, engineering, and contractor teams to support safe and efficient work execution. Attend and document project coordination and safety meetings. Participate in daily safety meetings and job hazard assessments to support safe execution of work. Assist with tracking field progress and preparing daily or weekly progress updates. Support short-term planning, scheduling, and workface planning activities. Assist with purchase orders, material requisitions, and vendor coordination. Participate in field walkdowns to verify work scope, identify constraints, and support execution planning. Support turnaround and maintenance work scopes throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, field execution, and closeout activities. Help ensure work is performed in accordance with refinery safety standards and CAM’s Zero Harm safety culture. Support turnover and project closeout documentation. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety, work execution, and project coordination. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field (recent graduates encouraged to apply). Internship, co-op, or project experience in construction, industrial maintenance, or energy sectors is considered an asset. Ability to read or learn to interpret engineering drawings such as P&IDs and mechanical drawings. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); exposure to scheduling or document control systems is an asset. Strong organizational and communication skills. Willingness to learn and work in an active industrial refinery environment. Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, supervisors, and tradespeople. Valid driver’s license and ability to access an active industrial site.
