About the role.

We are seeking a Cafeteria Cook who will work independently to deliver high-quality food service while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. This role is responsible for food preparation, cooking, inventory management, and supporting special events and catering activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and customer service while contributing to an exceptional dining experience.

What you’ll be doing.

Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes, quality standards, and food safety requirements.
Cut, chop, mix, and prepare ingredients, sauces, and other food items for daily meal service.
Determine inventory requirements and assist with stocking, ordering, and maintaining kitchen supplies.
Ensure all kitchen facilities, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and presentable condition.
Partner with the Cafeteria Lead to support special meals, banquets, and catering events based on business needs.
Monitor and adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations and standards.
Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including knives and other food preparation tools.
Identify and promptly report any safety, maintenance, or hygiene concerns.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute positively to the overall cafeteria team environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to be successful.

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, cafeteria, food service, banquet, or catering environment.
Experience safely operating kitchen equipment and food preparation tools, including knives.
Ability to obtain WHMIS certification.
Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Positive, approachable attitude with a willingness to learn and support others.
Adaptability and openness to new ideas, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check.
Must be bondable.

The Cafeteria team plays an important role in supporting employees by providing quality food service in a safe, welcoming, and customer-focused environment. This position works closely with the Cafeteria Lead and other food service team members to ensure daily operations run efficiently while supporting special events and catering requirements across the site.

Compensation Package: $ - $ Starting at 22.53 CAD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
