WorkSafeNB is looking to hire permanent full-time English written and spoken Health and Safety Officers. These positions are to cover the Saint John and Fredericton regions of New Brunswick. There will be times when on-site presence is required across the province of New Brunswick for in person meetings. For these reasons, working from outside the province or country is not permissible.
Reporting to the Manager, Compliance Services, the Health and Safety Officer promotes safe and healthy work environments across the province through educating employers and employees on their rights and responsibilities.
Salary And Hours Of Work:
• Hours of work are those required to perform the assigned tasks but shall not be less than 35 hours per week, 7 per day. Organization hours are Monday to Friday between 8:00-5:00 PM. This role may require you to work outside of these hours based on operational needs.
• The pay scale for this position is $82,971.90 to $97,614.00 annually.
• Promote safe and healthy workplaces across the province through conducting workplace inspections and enforcing the New Brunswick Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Act and its Regulations.
• Required to be on call, and first on scene, to investigate incidents, complaints, and work refusals.
• Provide expertise, consultation and assistance to clients, Prevention Team, other members of WorkSafeNB as well as internal and external technical committees.
• University degree, or post-secondary diploma, in a relevant discipline.
• Must have three years of relevant work experience in a technical speciality including experience with health and safety related work.
• Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of health and safety issues and principles.
• CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or CHSC (Certified Health and Safety Consultant) certification is considered an asset.
• Experience in building construction would be considered an asset.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
You will be required to have a valid driver license and will be provided your own fleet vehicle for travel. Travel expenses are reimbursed as per our expense directive.
