Stantec has an opportunity for an Intermediate Water Resources Engineer / Hydrologist to join our Environmental Services team in Atlantic Canada. The position may be based in Halifax, Fredericton, St. John’s, or other regional offices, with flexibility depending on candidate location.
We are seeking an Engineer / Hydrologist to support our Mine Water practice in Atlantic Canada, with a focus on surface water and integrated mine water management. This role is ideal for a developing practitioner who is looking to deepen their technical expertise, contribute to meaningful mining projects, and grow within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
You will work closely with senior technical leaders and project managers to support project delivery while building your capabilities in mine water management across all phases of mining projects.
The successful candidate will contribute to mine water management services across all phases of mining projects—from environmental assessment and permitting to operations, closure, and long-term monitoring—while developing and exploring technical curiosity and depth, and professional experience.

Your Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or related discipline) or Environmental Sciences (Hydrology or related field). A Master’s degree is considered an asset
Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) / Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in an Atlantic Canadian province
Typically 4–8 years of relevant experience in water resources, with exposure to mining, infrastructure, or environmental projects considered an asset
Experience supporting technical components of environmental assessments, design studies, or monitoring programs is preferred but not required
The Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based with opportunities to participate in field programs and site visits across Atlantic Canada. Occasional travel to mine sites may be required. There may also be opportunities to support projects in other regions of Canada.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
