Coach Atlantic Transportation Group Inc. is currently recruiting a Lead Hand - Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic. The positions will be in Halifax, NS.

The Lead Hand is the senior working technician within the Maintenance Department and is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership, technical guidance, and work coordination while actively performing the duties of a Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Perform the full range of duties of a Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic.
- Diagnose, repair and maintain coaches, buses, support vehicles and related equipment.
- Complete complex troubleshooting and assist other technicians with difficult repairs.
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
- Strong Diagnostic skills and electrical knowledge
- Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Assist with emergency breakdowns and after-hours support, as required.
Team Leadership
- Mentor new employees and apprentices by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Promote teamwork, collaboration and respectful communication.
- Encourage safe work practices and reinforce company policies and procedures.
- Assist in resolving day-to-day operational issues within the shop.
Quality & Safety
- Monitor completed work to ensure repairs meet company and regulatory standards.
- Support compliance requirements, provincial inspection standards and applicable legislation.
- Ensure proper documentation of repairs and maintenance activities.
- Maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and safety.
Administrative Support
- Assist with inventory control and communicate parts requirements.
- Participate in meetings, training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recommend improvements to shop processes and procedures.

Qualifications
- Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic Certification.
- Valid driver's licence (Class 2 or 3 with air brake endorsement considered an asset).
- Several years of progressively responsible Truck and Transport/Bus mechanical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work and coordinate multiple priorities.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring apprentices or leading teams is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Active, hands-on mechanical position performed in a maintenance shop environment.
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting and use of mechanical tools and equipment.
- Exposure to noise, grease, weather conditions and moving vehicles.
- Participation in an on-call rotation may be required.
- Overtime and flexible hours may be required to meet operational demands.
