Description

We’re seeking a strategic, results‑driven Senior Logistics Professional to join our team in Saint John. This is a pivotal leadership role for someone who excels in fast‑paced, ever‑evolving environments and is committed to delivering operational excellence every single day.

As a key leader within our logistics organization, you’ll play a central role in shaping freight strategy, optimizing performance across multiple modes of transportation, and ensuring our customers receive the exceptional service they expect. You’ll bring a hands‑on, solutions‑oriented mindset.

This is an opportunity to lead critical logistics functions, influence major commercial outcomes, and work closely with partners across the business to build a stronger, more efficient supply chain. If you thrive on complexity, enjoy developing people, and are energized by creating clarity and momentum in dynamic environments, this role offers both challenge and meaningful impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the freight and logistics strategy for the Sawmill Division, ensuring it supports commercial goals, strengthens customer relationships, and drives end‑to‑end delivery excellence.
  • Coach, mentor, and empower a dedicated team of two logistics professionals, fostering accountability, growth, and high-performance execution.
  • Own and optimize an annual freight budget of approximately $140M, balancing cost efficiency with exceptional service outcomes.
  • Negotiate competitive freight rates and service agreements across a diverse mix of trucking, offshore shipping, and rail partners — from regional carriers to major national providers.
  • Partner closely with the Sales team to uphold customer commitments, support strategic accounts, and continuously improve delivery performance.
  • Develop innovative, cost-effective shipping solutions for export markets, strengthening our global reach and market competitiveness.
  • Monitor supply chain and freight market conditions, making proactive recommendations to ensure service reliability, cost management, and capacity stability.
  • Champion continuous improvement across all logistics functions, enhancing processes, increasing efficiency, and elevating service levels across the network.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in freight operations, transportation management, or logistics coordination, ideally within a multi‑modal environment.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with hands-on experience working directly with trucking and rail carriers.
  • A track record of thriving in fast-paced, dynamic environments, balancing shifting priorities with sound judgment and consistent execution.
  • An energetic, proactive, and highly organized approach, paired with a strong commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Experience in manufacturing, forestry, industrial operations, or other asset-heavy sectors (considered an asset but not required).
