Description

CFM is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Health & Safety to join our leadership team in Saint John, New Brunswick. This role ensures compliance with applicable legislation, drives a strong safety culture, and partners with operations leaders to reduce risk, prevent incidents, and promote the wellbeing of employees. 



Responsibilities
  • Lead and continuously improve the Health & Safety Management System, ensuring it is effectively implemented, audited, and aligned with regulatory requirements, COR standards, and organizational objectives. Drive proactive safety culture initiatives focused on engagement, leadership, and accountability
  • Manage the business safety team and provide guidance to senior leadership on safety risks, regulatory changes, and organizational trends. Collaborate with division safety professionals and operational leaders to integrate safety into all business planning and decision‑making.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant OH&S legislation, codes, and standards.
    Oversee workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments; ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop and oversee safety training programs, competency requirements, and certifications. 
  • Provide strategic insight through the analysis of leading indicators (e.g., near misses, observations, inspections, and hazard reports) to identify emerging risks, inform leadership, and develop action plans to proactively mitigate potential incidents.
  • Support WorkSafeNB injury claim management, including reporting, employer statements, return-to-work planning, and communication with case managers. Support Disability Management team to support safe and appropriate work placements.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field (or equivalent experience).         
  • Five or more years of experience in occupational health and safety, preferably across diverse industries. Strong knowledge of OHS regulations within the Maritime provinces, including NB, NS and NL, as well as CSA standards and industry best practices.
  • Experience managing WorkSafeNB claims and employer reporting requirements including employee leave, disability, and return-to-work processes.
  • Ability to lead organizational safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement. Exceptional communication, coaching, investigation, and relationship‑building skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Professional certification such as CRSP, CSP, CHSC, NCSO or equivalent preferred. Completion of, or commitment to complete, COR training through the New Brunswick Construction Safety Association.
