The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Enterprise Architect / CITO, the Solution Architect is responsible for defining end-to-end solution designs for projects and initiatives across Assomption Vie. The role bridges business requirements and enterprise architecture by translating needs into pragmatic, secure, and scalable solutions that can be delivered by development and vendor teams.
The Solution Architect does not own enterprise standards or governance decisions but applies them consistently, identifies risks and gaps, and escalates deviations through established architecture and governance forums.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
- End-to-End Solution Design & Architecture Alignment : Design holistic solutions across applications, integrations, data, and non-functional requirements, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles, standards, and target-state direction.
- Architecture Artifacts & Design Assurance : Produce clear and consumable architecture deliverables (solution diagrams, design decisions, integration patterns) and review/challenge designs from vendors and delivery teams.
- Delivery Enablement & Technical Leadership : Partner with delivery teams to ensure solutions are feasible, buildable, supportable, and operationally stable, providing ongoing architectural guidance throughout delivery.
- Integration, Data & Non-Functional Design ; Define integration and data approaches aligned with enterprise strategy, ensuring security, performance, resiliency, scalability, and data quality are embedded in designs.
- Transformation & Technical Debt Management : Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, support coexistence between legacy and future-state platforms, and enable modernization and core system transformation initiatives.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Architecture Governance : Communicate solution intent, risks, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders, participate in governance forums, and escalate architectural risks or deviations as needed.
What you'll need
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Excellent communication skills in both French and English, written and spoken.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Experience
- 8-12+ years of IT experience, including 3-5 years in solution architecture or senior technical leadership roles
- Experience designing enterprise‑scale, distributed systems
- Hands‑on experience in cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure)
- Experience integrating SaaS platforms with legacy systems
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of application architecture patterns (microservices, event‑driven, API‑first)
- Experience with cloud‑native design, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
- Proficiency with integration patterns (REST, messaging, event‑based architectures)
- Solid understanding of data architecture and security principles
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience in insurance or financial services environments
- Master's degree in a related field
- Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF)
- Experience reviewing vendor solutions and RFP technical responses
Certifications (Assets)
- AWS or Azure Solutions Architect certification
- TOGAF certification
- Security certifications (CISSP, CCSP)
