DescriptionCFM is seeking an experienced and hands-on Supervisor, Machine Shop to oversee our machining operations and support a high-performance team. This role is responsible for ensuring safety is present in all work, daily shop floor leadership, workflow coordination, training, and ensuring production targets are consistently met.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to the machine shop team, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Supervise day-to-day operations of the machine shop, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement improvement plans to enhance team performance and productivity
- Promote and ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements in all machine shop activities by conducting regular safety meetings and workplace inspections,
- Coordinate machine shop projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management, to meet client deadlines and quality standards.
- Oversee setup, operation, and maintenance of machine tools including CNC and manual equipment. Ensure compliance with machining standards, specifications, and procedures, conducting inspections and audits to maintain product quality and integrity
- Monitor production metrics and implement solutions to improve productivity and reduce downtime. Support continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing principles and process optimization.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a machine shop environment, including CNC machining.
- 2 years of supervisory or lead hand experience. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Certification or training in machining, industrial technology, or related trade is an asset.
