JOB OVERVIEW
Key Industries is seeking a Job Coach to support individuals with barriers to employment as they transition into and maintain meaningful work opportunities. This role involves providing on-site job coaching, reinforcing workplace training, and promoting independence through tailored support strategies. When not on job sites, the Job Coach will facilitate individual or small-group experiential learning sessions to provide hands-on training through job simulations. The role also includes monitoring progress and maintaining communication with employers and other stakeholders. May include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support clients in maintaining employment by guiding them through successful task completion and workplace expectations
- Reinforce employer training and ensure clarity and consistency in job tasks
- Use prompting strategies and gradually fade support to encourage independence
- Help clients interpret and navigate the social and physical aspects of the workplace
- Assist in building daily structure and routines that contribute to workplace success
- Foster inclusive work environments by working collaboratively with both employees and employers
- Advise on workplace accommodations for people with disabilities
- Provide creative, person-centred solutions to employment challenges
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of clients and document outcomes appropriately
- Communicate effectively with employers, families, and other stakeholders regarding support needs, expectations, fading plans, etc.
- Develop individualised training plans using the Skills for Success and NOC profiles as guides
- Lead workplace simulation sessions based on participants' training goals
- Ability to set, as well as demonstrate for your client, clear and appropriate working boundaries
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Diploma or degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Disability Support Services, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or employment barriers is considered an asset
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in community settings while maintaining regular communication with the team
- MUST have a valid driver’s license to be able to travel to various work sites as needed
