DescriptionAs a Wastewater Operator with the Water Resource Recovery/H2O Fredericton Division you will be a vital member of the team operating and maintaining the wastewater system throughout the City of Fredericton including 2 treatment facilities and 34 lift stations. The successful candidate will be required to apply skills in facility operations, electrical maintenance, industrial maintenance, and equipment operation.
Qualifications Required:
- Red Sealed Industrial Mechanic/Millwright.
- Be able to work a normal Monday-Friday work week with an on-call rotation that requires availability evening, night, weekend and holiday hours.
- Education and/or considerable applicable experience in field related to wastewater treatment along with experience in an industrial setting may be considered.
- Valid Class 5 license at hiring with a requirement to achieve Class 3 within one year.
- Candidates must have or be able to attain certification through a provincially administered accreditation program. The incumbent is expected to obtain their first level of wastewater certification at the end of their first year of employment and continue subsequently levels and experience is achieved.
What You’ll Do:
- Operation and Maintenance of equipment related to wastewater treatment and collection including but not limited to: pumps, motors, dewatering systems, screw conveyors, screening and grit, thickening systems and a variety other rotating processes.
- Installation of equipment for new processes and systems, and replacement of equipment for evergreening schedules.
- Operate the wastewater plant and lift stations in all aspects beyond Industrial Mechanic position: Inspection, cleaning including wet wells/valve chambers, de-watering operations.
- Maintain records using computer data entry.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers and related equipment.
- Using SCADA monitor, investigate and determine process functions are working optimally and make process changes as needed.
- Use and have knowledge of personal protective equipment and use the equipment provided by the employer.
- Complete sample collection and laboratory tasks to ensure plant operation is effective.
- Interaction with the public, contractors and other municipal staff as required.
- Required to work in all weather conditions.
- Perform manual work with dexterity, competency and self-supervision.
- Ability to speak in both official languages would be considered an asset.
